This is one of the bright sparks in a horrible few days of teething.
Teething really knocks her about. She’s not one of those kids that will be a bit grumpy in the afternoon and wake up with a tooth poking through.
And so (of course) it was on the night that we were staying in a hotel and I didn’t get back until 11:30pm after last minute wedding preparations, she woke up with teething pain. Fist in mouth, balling her eyes out. I tried everything – lying down with her, walking her around in the hotel room, having a shower with her, walking around the hotel and eventually taking her into the car and letting the engine run. Three hours later, she finally was able to get to sleep.
She’s still exhausted from it and the eczema on her cheek is still irritated from the tears. She’s been back to having two – three bottles a day and was only placated this evening after I smothered her gums in bonjela. Whatever it takes is my attitude to teething.
I get through the teething by focussing on the other things that break your heart in a good way like me driving away from the supermarket today and she says:
“Mumm-eee”
Me: Yes?
Her: Mumm-eee
followed by peels of laughter

My name is Zoey.
