Bad Habits Die Hard

Bad Habits Die Hard

We took Riley to the park yesterday. I think the photo shows that she was a little bored. Due to seemingly unending bouts of teething, illness and my exhaustion, I have gotten out of the habit of getting out of the house with the munchkin. There was a time where I would always, or almost [...]

The Backslide

The Backslide

When Riley was about 14 months old she started reliably sleeping through the night and no needing my presence to get to sleep. Up until that point she was up three or more times a night and at nap time I would need to rock or stroke her to sleep. Perhaps it was because I [...]

Still Teething

Still Teething

Letting me know she’s still teething, but at least capable of thinking of something entirely cheeky at the same time. Or perhaps she’s plotting world domination. Impossible to tell.

Recovery

Recovery

The Doctor told me it was most  likely the two year molars and that the high temperaturs had triggered a reaction in her lymphatic system, causing (among other things) her glands to swell up. He prescribed antibiotics and I noticed an almost immediate improvement, particularly with her temperature wich had been pretty scary high. Keeping [...]

The Good Patient

The Good Patient

The little googy has not been well. We think it’s teething – there’s plenty of drooling, diarrhea and a nasty high temperature without any other symptoms of infection. Most likely it’s her two year molars. I got quite a shock yesterday when I took her temperature (under the arm) and it was 39.6 (103 F). She [...]

Shining Moment

Shining Moment

My little munchkin has been teething again. Although to be fair, it never really stops. Occasionally, teething just takes a break for a few weeks in order to goad me into a false sense of security, so that when it returns I am woefully under-prepared. Yes. I am saying that teething has an evil plan. [...]

She's Sensitive

She's Sensitive

I say that alot. Of course she’s particularly sensitive at the moment, with a bad cough and nightmare teething. But even aside from that, she’s a sensitive creature and she probably always will be. I try not to apologise for her sensitivity, even when it’s expected that I will. Or worse, that I will actively [...]

Cutie Pie

Cutie Pie

Teething like crazy (note that snotty nose that I have clearly failed to clean) but at least she’s still capable of being distracted by swimming (she giggled with excitement as soon as I put her in her swimmers) and of course some time outside with the cat, the sandpit and the moon.

Teething is a Cruel Beast

Teething is a Cruel Beast

This is one of the bright sparks in a horrible few days of teething. Teething really knocks her about. She’s not one of those kids that will be a bit grumpy in the afternoon and wake up with a tooth poking through. And so (of course) it was on the night that we were staying [...]
