Leave it to babies to find a way of playing with a toy in a way that you hadn’t thought of. While the Squishy thinks that hanging out in the activity centre is alright, hiding underneath it is far more entertaining.

111/365 The Escape Artist

Originally I thought the problem with the gate was that I didn’t have a padlock and Riley had figured out how to open it. Padlock is now on, but I’ve clearly underestimated climbing ability. It’s only a matter of time before she clears it. Which is slightly worrying given that once she’s on the driveway [...]

104/365 Dare Devils and Broken Bones

Seeing Riley at the park makes me afraid. Very afraid. Of the kind of dare devil she will become given enough time. There is just nothing resembling trepidation, fear or even logic to hold her back. I never broke a bone when I was a kid. Except for a pinky finger. And that was a fluke more than anything.

103/365 Park!

After the last couple of months I’m used to saying no. No to playtime, no to going to the park and often no to undivided attention. It’s so easy to get into a habit of no, without really even thinking about it. So today when Riley began chanting park! park! park! after we got back [...]

99/365 A Break in the Weather

I had big plans yesterday. I got all my work done as soon as humanly possible and by 4pm I was finishing up the dishes (several days worth) and just about to start on dinner and cleaning the house. Riley woke up just as I was doing the dishes, and always a keen helper grabbed [...]

95/365 Outside! Outside!

Outside time has been a little bit scant around these parts lately. Here she is, looking out at some pelicans on the lake on one of the days when I actually got it together to get ourselves out the door. I usually try to go to the park or a quick walk or at least [...]

Giraffes are Forever

We were invited to the zoo a couple of weekends ago. We got to go before the zoo was even open. The first time we went to Taronga Zoo, Riley was a little over 7 months old so I knew this time around she would have an absolute ball. Days before, she was listing off [...]

88/365 The Bouncing Fairy

If there was a bouncing sport, Riley would totally rock that out. As it is, if you combine fairy wings and bouncing, that’s pretty close to what heaven looks like. And the perfect way to end a crazy week, with giggles and belly laughs. Belly laughs make everything better. And to be perfectly accurate, she [...]

77/365 The Fairy

Yesterday was the first day that Riley insisted on what she wanted to wear. And yesterday, she wanted to be a fairy. She also wanted to wear a hat that was too small for her and she hadn’t worn since she was a baby. Most of the day was spent twirling about, while she said [...]

61/365 Just Because

There isn’t really a story that goes with this photo, I posted a request on the Facebook Page for people to choose between this photo and another photo. I had two responses (one on facebook and one on twitter) for each of the photos so I had the decided vote. Yeah I know, kind of [...]
