51/365 Lines of Communication

by Zoey @ Good Googs on July 25, 2010

Sometimes after a busy weekend, things go a bit pear shaped. Riley had a big day on Saturday. Which she loved every minute of. I was at my sister’s 40th birthday and she spent the whole day running around the beach house, convincing people to take her down to the beach, hitting her head on wayward bits of furniture and not napping.

So as we were heading home this morning I was not surprised that she fell asleep in the car at about 10am and didn’t wake up until 1:30 this afternoon. Still despite, that very healthy catch up sleep, she was still a little bit out of sorts. And when I failed to interpret a request this afternoon the situation quickly deterioriated into tears, high pitched screaming and all manner of unpleasantness.

Eventually, I figured it out and was able to snap her out of it by pretending to be grumpy myself. Because sometimes the only cure for a real breakdown in communication is the willingness to make an ass of myself.

Some days meltdowns just lead to more meltdowns ;-) I think it’s a beautiful face, even when it’s grumpy.

What an expressive little face! Oh to be a fly on the wall for that Mummy-Daughter moment. Giggles all round.

That’s why I’m behind the camera – so the only one who can actually see me making an ass of myself is her ;-)

She is adorble even when grumpy with tears running down her face!

See! That’s what I think. Husband was dubious about me posting a photo of her looking so sad – but I like it just as much as her happy photos.

I LOVE screaming/crying photos. I don’t know why, but I’m forever posting the same of Alexa. I think it helps show all sides of her personality a bit better :-)

BTW, we too had a rough one on Saturday after a full day of prepping for my father’s wedding, and then going. Didn’t get home till almost 10pm and she was assed out in the car. Of course, the transfer to bed didn’t go well. We all paid for that night out the day after. Makes me almost never want to go out again, ha!
