Elmo, Monkeys and iPads

Outside Play

Sometimes the funniest thing in the world is an Aunty pretending that Elmo is a monkey and swinging him around on the jungle gym. The Aunt in question also brought over an iPad. Riley’s uptake of technology is truly terrifying. I can only imagine the amount of new things I will have to learn just to keep up with her. The technology generation is an understatement.

I’m pretty sure her Aunt also taught her to say ‘bugger’ while she was here. But that’s the extended family’s job. Teach them bad words, feed them junk food and spoil them silly. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It amazes me how fast my girls are taking up technology that I struggle to understand.

That said I have heard that the iPad is ideal for the computer illiterate because it is so very user friendly. Not having seen one in the flesh yet I can’t testify to that myself.

Gorgeous photo :) but how could it not be with such a gorgeous subject

Thanks Marita! I consider myself relatively technically-savvy now – but I have no doubt that by the time Riley’s older this will no longer be the case!

What a gorgeous photograph. Children are immersed in technology these days, and it is amazing to see what they can do with what they have access to. I love using technology in my classrooms and sometimes this is frowned upon.

I don’t classify bugger as a swear word. That might be the coastal/country lifestyle coming out in me..

My husband and I have had just that conversation ;o) My litmus test is would I want her to use the word in context to someone outside of our family or to a teacher down the track. By that test ‘bugger’ and ‘bloody’ which I wouldn’t normally categorise as swear words are out.

Alexa has just figured out that my phone has a touch screen. She presses it SOOO hard now to make it change. I’m in trouble!

I’m working on convincing myself that there’s no point in getting one because I wouldn’t even get a look in with Riley thinking it’s the best toy ;o)
