Every year I go and buy a few new Christmas decorations to add to the collection – it is helpful to have this kind of limit on Christmas decorations because otherwise there would be a distinct possibility I may be forced to remortgage the house. This way I buy lovely, last a lifetime type decorations, and slowly add to our existing stock. This year I splashed out and bought a new star.
I’ve always been very enthusiastic about the Christmas time of year. Enthusiastic may be a slight understatement. And it didn’t matter if I was living with family, friends or living alone. I always had a tree and completely decked the place out. It’s not about decorations – it’s about traditions. I have all kinds of traditions with Christmas – like that the tree has to go up on the first Saturday of December. I have no idea why it just does. Without sounding too psychotic – I think that traditions are the backbone of families and define the character of your family. So perhaps that is why I’ve always been so committed to it.
So I’m really excited this year because I think that Riley will have a much better understanding of the whole Christmas celebration this year.
But that excitement has been temporarily taken over by blind panic as I realise how soon Christmas is. Nonetheless, setting out these Christmas decorations tonight has definitely put me into the Christmas spirit.

My name is Zoey.
