This week is the week that I’m working full days in the office for the first three days. All as part of my handover. And while I don’t mind the hours or the long days (hello 2 and a half hour commute each way), I do mind what I’m missing out on when I’m not home.
I miss my baby. I’m gone before she wakes up and home just before she goes to bed. And while my pregnant self is relieved that she’s going through a patch of sleeping on her own, in her own bed and I can have a break from the elbowing, thrashing and kicking – my mum self misses late night and early morning snuggles.
And no amount of alone time, real coffees or quiet lunches is going to make up for that.
